Hosting another streamer’s Twitch on your own Twitch channel is a great way to share and promote content from your friends or favorite fellow streamers. Hosting someone else’s channel allows you to boost their viewership while still keeping your viewers on your own Twitch channel. The following is an easy to follow guide that will teach you how to host on Twitch on either desktop or mobile platforms.
How to host on Twitch - Desktop Platform
If you are hosting Twitch on a desktop computer or laptop, then consider the following steps:
Open up a web browser and go to this site: https://www.twitch.tv. Log into your Twitch account if you haven’t already logged in. Note: You can use any web browser to host Twitch, but most users prefer Firefox or Chrome for smoothest playback.
Step 2: Click your Username to Bring Up The Drop Down Menu
The next step you need to take is clicking your username. It will be in the right hand corner of the website screen. When you click this, a drop down menu will appear with several options to choose from.
Step 3: Select Channel
From the drop down menu, select the “Channel” option. This will bring up your channel, complete with viewer chatroom, on the side. Make sure that your channel is active before you move on to the next step in the process.
Step 4: Input the Hosted Channel Name Into Your Chat Box
Type “/host” and the channel name (such as “/host user123”) into your chat box. This will allow everyone viewing your channel to view the hosted channel. The views on your channel will be added to the views on the hosted channel. When you are ready to stop hosting, simply type “/unhost” in the chat box.
How to host on Twitch - Mobile Platform
If you plan on hosting another Twitch stream while you are using a mobile device, consider the following steps.
Step 1: Open The Twitch
The first thing you need to do is open up the Twitch app on your device. If you aren’t already signed into your account, do so after opening the app using your username and password.
Step 2: Select Your Profile and Open Up The Tabs
Next, you’ll need to select your profile. This will either be on the upper left or upper right hand corner depending on the type of device you are using. Once your profile is selected, you can view a series of tabs.
Step 3: Select The Chat Tab and Begin Hosting
From this section of the app, you can now tap on the “Chat” tab, which will bring up your Twitch channel’s chat box. Type in “/host” followed by the channel name (such as “/host user123”) and enter it into the chat box. This will allow the viewers on your Twitch to view the hosted channel. The views from your channel’s viewers will be added to the viewers on the hosted channel. When you are done, type on “/unhost” and enter it into the chat box.
